MLOG Costs and Water Savings

This section and the bar graph show the MLOG system cost and estimated savings from recovered leakage. You can also add the cost of an AMR system and show the combined costs and benefits of an MLOG–AMR installation.

Value of annual leakage recovered: Savings in dollars for one year of recovered leakage.

MLOG system cost: The total cost of the MLOG system.

Return on investment period (years): Time required to break even, that is, when the value of recovered leakage is equal to the MLOG system cost.

The following values are entered:

Amortization period (years): Time over which the value of the MLOG system is depreciated for accounting purposes. Typically this is 5 years. The MLOG system has an expected life of 15 years. This long period allows water savings to add up significantly after the amortization period is over.

AMR endpoint cost ($): Aggregate cost of all AMR equipment per service.

AMR endpoint annual payback ($): Total hard-dollar benefit of AMR system.
